The Olight Baton 3 Pro is the light that converts people. It is tiny, it throws 1,500 lumens, it stands on its magnetic tail, and it charges by slapping a magnetic puck against the base — the kind of everyday convenience that makes a $40 light feel clumsy afterward. It is also a light with two specific caveats that the glowing first impression tends to bury: the tint, and the cable. Get past those two things and the Baton 3 Pro is one of the easiest pocket lights to recommend.

1,500 lumens is the right amount
There is a sweet spot in EDC output, and the Baton 3 Pro sits in it. 1,500 lumens is bright enough to light a room, a yard, or a trail, but not so high that the light cooks itself into an instant stepdown the way 3,000- and 6,500-lumen pocket rockets do. The included 21700 cell gives it more sustained runtime than the older 18650-based Batons, and a proximity sensor throttles the output down if it detects an object close to the bezel — a genuinely smart safety feature that keeps the light from scorching a pocket if it switches on by accident. The magnetic charging that makes the Baton 3 Pro feel premium is also its one real lock-in. Charging happens through Olight's proprietary MCC magnetic cable — there is no USB-C port in the body. In daily life this is fantastic: drop the light on the puck and it charges, no fumbling with a port cover. But it also means that if you lose or forget the cable, you cannot top up from the same USB-C cable that charges your phone, your Streamlight Wedge, or nearly every other modern light. Buy a spare MCC cable, keep one at work and one at home, and this is a non-issue — but go in knowing you are buying into Olight's ecosystem, not a universal standard.
Build and carry
At around 123 grams with its cell, the Baton 3 Pro is compact and dense — shorter than most 21700 lights because Olight packs the cell efficiently. It carries an IPX8 water rating (submersible beyond one meter), a reversible pocket clip, and Olight's typically excellent anodizing and switch feel. The whole package is small enough to genuinely forget in a pocket until you need it, which is the highest compliment you can pay an EDC light.
Who it's for — and who should skip it
